Good comfort for a Sunday afternoon and, really, anytime.
The Sun its Place in Our Heart's Fixed
Through the window rippled rain
Over the hills of spotted clouds
Though alone in the dark expanse of space
When we close our hands in prayer
The sun its place in our heart's fixed.
Night comprised of doubt and dark
Storms of billowing clouds and wind
The sea calms yet beneath the waves
When we close our hands to pray
The sun its place in our heart's fixed.
Candles flicker with the heartbeats of saints
Echoed whispers beseech One who is great
Though glass be made to stain the light
The simple act reveals the right
When we close our hands to pray
The sun its place in our heart's fixed.

Love it! One of my favorite mantras is "Aditya Hrudayam punyam Sarva satru Vinasanam" which means "All evil passes away for one who keeps the sun in his heart". I had to research this to get the Sanskrit right. In doing so I discovered that Lama Surya Das is named for the Sun. And I found that the mantra is from a longer Hymn to the Sun God. http://www.mypurohith.com/Rituals/Aditya_Hrudayam1.asp
Recently I have had a preference for two word mantras that can be done with the breath as Thay teaches. So I reduced the above to Aditya (Sun) Hridayam (Heart Chakra). The important thing is to visualize it. Used this earlier today while mowing the lawn.
Peace
